Maureen Denise McCormick is the younger daughter of Richard McCormick. She was born August 5, 1956, on the outskirts of Woodland Hills California. At a young stage of life, McCormick was a singer and dance and would often perform puppet shows for kids in the community. Following her win in her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was just 6 an old Pat Domigan called from Jack Wormser Agency to see if McCormick wanted to get involved in the industry of entertainment. McCormick's first big job was in 1964, when she appeared in a television commercial featuring Mattels new doll Baby Pattaburp. The following year she starred in the role of Chatty Cathy in a commercial and was then cast for Wind It Up And It's Breaks by The La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children who auditioned for the role of the oldest towheaded girl in The Brady Bunch. The show starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed, newlyweds who had an unmarried family. The show lasted five seasons. McCormick's autobiography Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in 2008. In it she revealed the fact that McCormick almost lost her virginity on the sets of the show in the fifth season, when she was a victim to Barry Williams. She was 16 years old when the incident occurred while he was. It was likely that we would have a romantic couple, she added. But the timing wasn't just right.
