Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. For a young Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended family, these characteristics were a naturally. Maureen entered the safe haven of her parents on August 17 1920 at Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is her mom. She was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland, and also ran an Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons is the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed the wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed playing sporting games in her youth and excelled in sports. This passion was combined with an equally natural gift to perform. Her winning of almost all Feis awards for her native country's theater and drama is a testimony to the fact that she was a natural performer. At age 14she was accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her ambition was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
